My name is Kathryn Cox, and I'm a former sandwich generation caregiver (parent with kids living at home who is also caring for their parent).
At eight years old, I gave my life to Jesus Christ, and He has been everything to me since. After graduating high school in 1995, I left home to attend Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. After a year and a half, I dropped out and married a wonderful man from Australia whom I met in "Acts" class. Twenty-nine years later (and counting), we are happily married and have two amazing children.
My mother loved humor. Bubbly and friendly, she influenced countless others in her walk with the Lord. In 2017, we moved my mom from Missouri to live with us in Kentucky because of her "mild" dementia that I dismissed as old-age forgetfulness. I had no idea we were in store for a difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease. When I became Mom's caregiver, my children were eleven and six years old. For nearly eight years, I struggled with caring for my mom while also raising my children. I made a lot of mistakes and learned a great deal about caregiving while parenting.
I am also a freelance Christian writer. Check out my writer's website at www.kathrynicox.com
